Veo 3.1 adds native vertical video and higher-resolution output
Google updated Veo 3.1 with native 9:16 output, higher-resolution options and stronger consistency from reference images.

Google updated Veo 3.1 Ingredients to Video with stronger reference-image consistency, native vertical output and higher-resolution options. Characters, backgrounds and objects can remain more stable across shots.
Native 9:16 matters for short-form production because it avoids forcing a landscape composition into a vertical crop. Flow, the Gemini API and Vertex AI also offer 1080p and 4K options.
Higher resolution is not a finished edit: pacing, safe areas, product information and platform policies still need review.
